TEMPERED BOROSILICATE GLASS

It is a tempered borosilicate glass, of superior quality and with excellent resistance to mechanical shocks.

It adapts perfectly to extreme temperatures, from -40° to + 300°, and resists thermal shocks up to 220°.

All borosilicate glass products can be used without fear from the oven to the freezer and vice versa.

They meet all culinary challenges, from preparation to serving, cooking, storage and reheating.

The trial by fire

Borosilicate glass consists of pure sand (80%), sodium carbonate (4%), alumina (2.5%) and boron (13%).

The mixture is melted in a furnace at a temperature of approximately 1,500°C, where it takes on the appearance of a transparent and very dazzling lava, which can only be observed through a protective screen.

Still in the furnace, the material is "refined" to remove the CO2 bubbles it releases during melting.

Birth of borosilicate glass

German chemist Otto Schott discovers that adding boron oxide to the composition of glass makes it highly resistant to thermal shock.

His borosilicate glass formula was an immediate commercial success. W. C. Taylor, a chemist for the American company Corning, improved Schott's recipe in 1912 and obtained an even "harder" glass: Nonex.

Nonex is used for railway signaling lanterns. The snowflakes, which once caused the hot bulbs to burst, now slide across the glass without affecting it.

1930

Borosilicate glass enters the healthcare sector

Cannulas, syringes, suckers, spittoons, nasal droppers...

Soon a wide range of hygienic products were created in borosilicate glass, resistant to boiling water, flames, alcohol and chemical agents.

1936

The success of the Baby Bottle range

Created in the 1920s, the borosilicate glass bottle is a small revolution: reliable, safe, hygienic, everything needed to reassure young mothers.

1948

Electric kitchen

The arrival of electricity in the kitchen revolutionizes cooking.

Gas-electric or coal-electric combi ovens are starting to appear.

Borosilicate glass baking dishes are present in all homes.

1985

Launch of the first range of borosilicate glass products for freezer storage.

2004 - 2010

New variants of borosilicate glass

In this period a small revolution occurs.

A varied range is also offered for the hob: pans, pots, woks and sauté pans.

2010

The steamer basket

Approved by star chefs, steam cooking is starting to attract enthusiasts.

More and more ovens are offering the "steam option" for healthier, low-fat cooking that preserves the minerals, vitamins and color of foods.

An industrial-grade borosilicate glass steamer basket is made.

2018

Innovation, always at the center of the strategy

Always looking for new trends, it continues to innovate to meet the expectations of its consumers and in 2018 a unique and patented product was created, ideal for microwave heating.
